Blackwell=
8 acres
conservation easement
1997

Thanks to the generosity of a conservation-minded individual, the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy was the recipient of a beautiful 8-acre property outside of Blackwell. The property is bordered to the east by the Pine Creek Rail Trail and to the west by Pine Creek. The property contains nearly 3,100 feet of frontage along Pine Creek. The donor wanted to be assured that her father’s work at preserving the property and its creek frontage would be protected for future generations to enjoy.

The Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy maintained the property for almost a year, and with the donor’s support, sold the property subject to a conservation easement. The easement prohibits subdivision and future development on the property. However, at the donor’s request, the easement also provides for a greenway along Pine Creek that will be open for public access. The greenway will allow fishermen, birders, and walkers to enjoy the beauty of Pine Creek.
