When the owners of Lyons Farm purchase the property in the late 1990s, they did so in an effort to keep the property as a working farm and forest.

The property adjoins State game Land as well as the Joshi property, which is also protected by an NPC easement. With the addition of this property, the entire protected area exceeds 4500 acres.
