PROJECTS Nicholas
|
|
The Nicholas easement was the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy's fifth conservation easement in Tioga County's Charleston Township The farm was purchased by Mr. & Mrs. Nicholas in 1955; they operated a dairy farm until Mr. Nicholas passed away. Mrs. Nicholas was involved with all the daily chores necessary to run a family farm. Today, hay is the primary crop of the farm. Mrs. Nicholas’s many years on this farm was the impetus for her desire to see that it remain as productive farmland into the future. This conservation easement with the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy will ensure that the property remains undeveloped. With its, agricultural soils of statewide importance woodland, and tributaries to Elk Run, as well as frontage on a public road, the Nicholas property contributes to the scenic beauty of Tioga County.
