Rogers Farm= 383 acres
conservation easement
1997

These two farms near Wellsboro are located in close proximity to one another, with a small portion of each touching the other, for a total of 383 acres. The easement donors have no living heirs and wanted to be sure that their farms would be protected forever from any subdivision or development.

The larger of the farms has been in the donors’ family since 1903. This 257-acre farm is comprised primarily of uneven, rolling, sloped open fields for agricultural use, plus a number of acres of woods and wetlands, and has a few acres of prime farmland soils. In addition, the property contains the headwaters to Babbs Creek and a portion of the farmland drains to a well field that provides water for Wellsboro.

The smaller of the two farms has been in the donors’ family since 1952. This 126-acre farm is comprised primarily of uneven and rolling sloped fields for agricultural use, plus a number of acres of woods and wetlands. There are also some prime farmland soils located on the property.
